Continuent Tungsten 2.0.3 Release Notification

We are pleased to inform you that the new Continuent Tungsten 2.0.3 is now available. This is a recommended release for all Continuent Tungsten clustering customers as it contains important updates and improvements to the stability of the manager component, specifically with respect to possible stalls and memory usage that would cause manager failures:
  • A number of fixes to the Manager failure detection and recovery logic to improve stability
  • Improvements to the Connector Bridgemode, default Bridgemode buffer sizes, and connection management to improve performance and memory usage
  • Updated recommendations for witnesses and member calculations to ensure correct quorum determination
  • Within Composite Clusters (multiple geographically distributed clusters working together), inter-cluster communication now requires TCP/IP port 7 to be open to ensure availability and stability.

Tungsten Replicator is a high performance, open source, data replication engine for MySQL and Oracle, released under a GPL V2 license. Tungsten Replicator has all the features you expect from enterprise-class data replication products but with the flexibility of open source. Tungsten Replicator is also one of the core components of Continuent’s state-of-the-art database-as-a-service solution, Continuent Tungsten.

The Continuent Tungsten clusters keep data available to applications 7x24 through hardware failures, maintenance, and software upgrades. Tungsten Replicator 2.2 Is Now Available

New Continuent Tungsten Replicator 2.2 is now available for download at www.continuent.com/software and http://code.google.com/p/tungsten-replicator/downloads/list.

Tungsten Replicator is a high performance, open source, data replication engine for MySQL and Oracle, released under a GPL V2 license. Tungsten Replicator has all the features you expect from enterprise-class data replication products but with the flexibility of open source. We like to call Tungsten Replicator “Oracle GoldenGate without the price tag.”

Tungsten Replicator is also one of the core components of Continuent’s state-of-the-art database-as-a-service solution, Continuent Tungsten. Tungsten Replicator offers a set of features that surpass any open source replication solution available today: parallel, multi-master and heterogeneous replication. Best of all, these features are available to you as an open source release that is ready to solve your most extreme replication problems.

The enhancements in this new Tungsten Replicator 2.2  release include:

  • Tungsten Package Manager (tpm) is now the default installation and deployment tool; use of tungsten-installer, configure, configure-service, and update are deprecated
  • tpm incorporates support for both INI file and staging directory deployments
  • Deployments are possible using standard Linux RPM and PKG deployments
  • tpm has been improved to handle heterogenous deployments more easily
  • New command-line tools have been added to make recovery easier during a failure
  • Improvements to the core replicator, including identification and recovery from failure
  • New multi_trepctl tool for monitoring multiple hosts/services
