Replicate from Oracle to Oracle, Oracle to MySQL, and Oracle to Analytics

Oracle is the most powerful DBMS in the world. However, Oracle's expensive and complex replication makes it difficult to build highly available applications or move data in real-time to data warehouses and popular databases like MySQL. In this webinar-on-demand you will learn how Continuent Tungsten solves problems with Oracle replication at a fraction of the cost of other solutions and with less management overhead too – think Oracle GoldenGate without the price tag! We will demo constructing a highly available site using Oracle-to-Oracle replication. We will then show you how to replicate data in real time from Oracle to MySQL as well as load a data warehouse.

Multi-master, multi-region MySQL deployment in Amazon AWS

MySQL data rules the cloud, but recent experience shows us that there's no substitute for maintaining copies of data, across availability zones and regions, when it comes to Amazon Web Services (AWS) data resilience. In this webinar, we discuss the multi-master capabilities of Continuent Tungsten to help you build and manage systems that spread data across multiple sites.

We cover topics such as large scale topologies, transaction filtering, security, and moving replication from simple data movement to application messaging. We conclude with a live demonstration of a distributed MySQL solution with Continuent Tungsten clusters working across multiple AWS Availability Zones and AWS Regions.

Tungsten Replicator 2.2 Is Now Available

New Continuent Tungsten Replicator 2.2 is now available for download at www.continuent.com/software and http://code.google.com/p/tungsten-replicator/downloads/list.

Tungsten Replicator is a high performance, open source, data replication engine for MySQL and Oracle, released under a GPL V2 license. Tungsten Replicator has all the features you expect from enterprise-class data replication products but with the flexibility of open source. We like to call Tungsten Replicator “Oracle GoldenGate without the price tag.”

Tungsten Replicator is also one of the core components of Continuent’s state-of-the-art database-as-a-service solution, Continuent Tungsten. Tungsten Replicator offers a set of features that surpass any open source replication solution available today: parallel, multi-master and heterogeneous replication. Best of all, these features are available to you as an open source release that is ready to solve your most extreme replication problems.

The enhancements in this new Tungsten Replicator 2.2  release include:

  • Tungsten Package Manager (tpm) is now the default installation and deployment tool; use of tungsten-installer, configure, configure-service, and update are deprecated
  • tpm incorporates support for both INI file and staging directory deployments
  • Deployments are possible using standard Linux RPM and PKG deployments
  • tpm has been improved to handle heterogenous deployments more easily
  • New command-line tools have been added to make recovery easier during a failure
  • Improvements to the core replicator, including identification and recovery from failure
  • New multi_trepctl tool for monitoring multiple hosts/services
For a complete list of new features and enhancements, see releases notes.
Note that we offer Continuent Tungsten licenses and 24/7 support, ranging from annual to multi-year subscriptions, to help users operate replication in business-critical production environments.
